Alizarin Crimson
We noticed that on a recently purchased tube of W&N Alizarin Crimson that the lightfastness information was missing from the back of the tube. Winsor and Newton suggested a permanence rating of “B” on the front of the tube, however the place where lightfastness ratings were found for other colors (on the back) there was no lightfastness information. Alizarin Crimson is generally known as a pigment to be LF III, which means it is known to fade. While PR83 is widely used as an artist's color, unfortunately it has been discontinued by the wider pigment industry. How long a given manufacturer will be able to offer a paint with the original formulation will depend on how much of this pigment they have in reserves.
