Pyrrol Orange
Williamsburg Pyrrole Orange, like other varieties of PO73, is a near-essential color for the way it behaves in tints. The hues it creates with titanium white explode with high chroma that is difficult to create exactly by other means. A lovely and useful hue, it is also extremely chromatic in masstone. The masstone and the tints fall between red and orange on the spectrum.
Very lightfast and vivid orange. Falls between Cadmium Orange and Cadmium Red Light, but contains no heavy metals. In 2023, Golden published a vital series of tests on their colors and how they performed in mixes with various white paints. This color is far less lightfast than we once thought when combined in various mixing whites. More information can be found at https://justpaint.org/astm-lightfastness-testing-for-oil-paints/.
