Diarylide Yellow
At first glance, one might think this Indian Yellow is lightfast as it is made of PY83. However, this is comprised of the Transparent version of PY83 which has both different attributes in paint as well as different working properties. We love Golden’s commitment to testing, and in 2015 they published lightfastness tests for this pigment which went beyond the requirements of the ASTM. The pigment, which is Transparent orange in masstone and a chromatic yellow in tints proved difficult to replace. Golden’s 2015 tests placed this at an estimated ASTM III equivalence for lightfastness. In 2023, Golden published a vital series of tests on their colors and how they performed in mixes with various white paints.
