Titanium White
We have used large quantities of this Titanium White in safflower oil. The paint is luscious— you won’t hear us use that word too often. A few things should be kept in mind which apply to other Titanium Whites in safflower oil. In impasto, certain areas of thicker paint dried with a noticeable shift in the color. When painted flat on Ampersand gessoboard, we saw some color shift as it dried. This is likely due to the longer drying time with safflower oil which allows for some pigment migration before the paint sets. Titanium white pigment in general has been known to change in value when dried. So with all titanium whites, not just this variety, if exact value is very important, do a few tests to see how it dries. A good choice if you need large quantities of paint for an affordable price.
At this time, RGH’s regular Titanium White is only available in Safflower Oil. However they also make a specialty Titanium White in their Atelier series which has Handwashed Linseed or Handwashed Walnut oil.
