This color is a bit oranger in masstone and lighter in value than Williamsburg’s variety. This is a beautiful chromatic brown earth tone. While oranger and higher in lightness than some other Burnt Siennas in other brands, the Michael Harding Burnt Sienna has a rosy nature in tints. One interesting quirk of this color is that it is physically light in weight. In mixes Michael Harding Burnt Sienna has a gentle tinting strength which is similar to the Williamsburg Italian Burnt Sienna. In hue, the Michael Harding Burnt Sienna is about 2.5YR 3/8 in Munsell terms. For a Sienna it is a fairly chromatic in tints, and heads toward 2.5 YR 7/4 or perhaps even a bit more chromatic than that.
