Natural Red Iron Oxide
Williamsburg’s Burnt Sienna is an enjoyable, easy-to-work-with, lightweight color that has good glide and a very faint grit. In handling, this is less bouncy than Gamblin’s Burnt Sienna, however it is still pleasant to use. In hue it is bit redder and deeper in value than Michael Harding’s Burnt Sienna. Williamsburg’s Burnt Sienna is also a stronger tinter. In masstone it is similar to the Williamsburg Italian Burnt Sienna, however the regular Burnt Sienna is a bit more chromatic in masstone with smaller particle size and stronger tinting strength.
This color is part of their Landscape Colors series: “An excellent outdoor palette that allows artists to produce the wide variety of hues, shades, and tints encountered in nature.” It is also part of their Basic Color series, recommended as, “A great set for someone just starting to paint in oils or as an introduction to our line of paints.”
