Cobalt Violet (this pigment can be a redder light shade or a deeper violet shade)
The mission of RGH to provide artists with large quantities of affordable paint was fulfilled in their Cobalt Violet. Relative to other violets in the same color space, in general cobalt violet is a lightfast pigment which is also among the most costly. When we wanted a large quantity for a project, we turned to RGH. The paint was fantastic. The consistency had a bit of what felt like extra oil, however this kept the violet from drying out while we were working with the container. Cobalt is a natural drier, and so the extra oil kept the drying in check for the duration of the project. In hue this was a deep royal purple, almost as deep in value as ultramarine, however the pigment packed a chromatic punch. Thank you RGH for making pigments like cobalt violet accessible to painters.
