This is a high chroma Cadmium Red. For context, it has a similar hue to Schmincke Norma’s Cadmium Red Light. For comparison, the hue is a little oranger-leaning than Rublev’s Cadmium Red Light. Michael Harding’s Cadmium Red light is similar to other cadmium red lights that have a slight inclination towards red as opposed to orange. In handling, it was very loose, even more so than a brand like Vasari. Michael Harding’s Cadmium Red Light turns a beautiful coral in tints with Titanium White. The paint thins readily without thinner, and yet is buttery when mixed with Williamsburg Titanium. This paint was more flowing than the other Cadmium Red Lights we tested, while also being a stronger tinter than Vasari or Schmincke Norma’s Cadmium Red Light. Overall this color fills a nice niche among the cadmium red lights and has a gorgeous red-orange color in its tints. An excellent paint.
