Cadmium Red
This color, along with Williamsburg’s Cadmium Red Light, provides an additional color note not offered in other premium brands. These two Williamsburg colors fill in a gap between most brands’ cadmium red light colors and cadmium orange hues. Williamsburg’s Cadmium Red Vermillion is actually a bit more towards a red hue than Williamsburg Cadmium Red Light, which leans oranger. This color is a strong tinter. This color is somewhat similar to Old Holland’s Cadmium Red Scarlet (Scharlacken), however the Old Holland note is deeper in masstone and does not reach the same higher lightness higher chroma note that this one does. In comparison to other paints Williamsburg Cadmium Red Vermillion is oranger than Schmicke Norma’s Cadmium Red Light and redder than Old Holland’s Cadmium Orange. Williamsburg’s Cadmium Red Vermillion is a bright, fiery red-orange with excellent tinting power.
