Old Holland's Cadmium Red Scarlet (Scharlacken) is a powerful tinter with a fiery hue. This color is pitched a little deeper in value than some of the other colors in the hue space, however it is very high in saturation, so that may be a useful combination. Similar colors which are a little brighter in value (also high saturation) are the two offerings of Williamsburg: Cadmium Red Light and Cadmium Red Vermillion. Old Holland Red Scarlet (Scharlacken) starts a bit deeper so cannot reach the same exact tones, however it may be a great hue depending on which value one wants. This is an extremely powerful tinter— one of the best cadmiums for tinting strength. This paint has the characteristic stiffness expected of Old Holland.
