RGH Cadmium Red Purple is a bright, deep cherry red. The most similar paint we have tried in the color space is Williamsburg Cadmium Red Deep. The closest Munsell chip to the paint when wet is 7.5R 3/12, however the paint appears a little cooler and a little deeper. Both paints have similar behavior in tints. These reds are between most Cadmium Red Deeps and the class of more violet varieties which include Maimeri Puro’s Red Purple, Rublev’s Cadmium Maroon, and Old Holland’s Cadmium Red Purple. Overall we were surprised what a bright red the RGH Cadmium Red Purple has, and that it is a very high chroma cool red which exceeds the chips of the Munsell system.
