Gamblin’s Cadmium Yellow Deep is an impasto color with fairly high chroma for its specific hue. We had an experience with a can that felt interestingly desaturated in masstone. This doesn’t present an issue in tints, which are hard to distinguish from other brands. Only in the context of a very specific mixing project did we notice this quality. For our purposes we found higher chroma option was Williamsburg Cadmium Yellow Deep, though this depends on the exact hue one desires. Gamblin’s Cadmium Yellow Deep has a fairly stiff consistency.
