Yellow Ochre natural
Italian Lemon Ochre is a sister pigment to Williamsburg’s Italian Yellow Ochre. Together the two strike a beautiful chord, especially radiant when applied thinly or in glazes. The Italian Lemon Ochre is one of the most lemony ochres we’ve seen. A beautiful pigment with a larger particle size, it is not quite as gritty as Italian Lemon Ochre. This pigment is, as expected, a gentle tinter, and would lend itself to realistic painting for that reason. However it is used it brings a lot of beauty. We would recommend this paint for specialized applications where the lemon nature is sought or used in glazes. This is a light and lovely ochre.
This color is part of their Landscape Colors series: “An excellent outdoor palette that allows artists to produce the wide variety of hues, shades, and tints encountered in nature.” “One of the crown jewels of the Williamsburg line, these colors completely redefine the experience of earth colors, which are typically seen as drab and unexciting. These particular pigments are rare and come from the same mining regions in Italy made famous by the great Sienese and Florentine masters. Prized for their authenticity, they have been used by many conservators and restorers and sought after by both traditional painters looking to connect to the traditions of the past, as well as contemporary painters looking for a more expressive, physical presence in their palette. We take great care not to over-mill these, instead allowing the presence of the pigment to be felt and preserving the larger crystalline facets of the minerals, which ultimately allows for a stunning interplay of rich masstones playing off brilliant undertones.” -Williamsburg Catalog
