Cadmium Oranges vs Benzimidazolone Orange, PO62
How does Benzimidazlolone Orange PO62 relate to the realm of Cadmium Oranges out there?
This is a lineup of genuine Cadmium Oranges in rainbow-order. Here one can quickly ascertain the yellow-orangeness vs red-orangeness of a color in relation to each other.
We wanted to take a look at where Permanent Orange fits into this ensemble. The lighting in this picture doesn't quite capture the slight amount of desaturation that Permanent Orange displays in real life. Compared to the finest cadmiums it has a sort of off-note about it, but it is not as noticeable in isolation. Some of the other pictures do a bit better job showing the differences. Here we're interested in the relative hue.
Gamblin's PO62, called Permanent Orange, is somewhere in the neighborhood of Old Holland's Cadmium Yellow Extra Deep, which means that the yellow-orange versions of PO62 are quite yellowish in comparison to many Cadmium Oranges.
