A lighter PR179, Florentine Red

A lighter version of PR179 in oils, an exquisite dark red from Schmincke Mussini. It was in another medium, gouache, where I discovered what PR179 was and what it could do for other colors. Since then I’ve brought it into my oil palette, and there’s been no looking back.

Shadows on birds wings, those deep reds on grass stems, and odd coolish light maroons that are more complex than pink.

This one is Florentine Red by Mussini.
