Vat Red 41, Deep Red Solvent Dye

VR41

Pigment Description

Vat Red 41 is a dye that not often used in artist paints, but it may be made into a pigment. It is described as a deep red. In some places it is listed as a Thioindigo. We encountered it as a Maya Violet hue in Turner watercolors. The pigment for MayaCrom Violet is PV58, which is likely made by a different process.
