Rutile titanium dioxide coated with precipitated calcium carbonate
Regular titanium dioxide (PW6) is the staple white of the 20th century art world. However, the world of titanium dioxide sub-variants is largely unknown to painters. We've only recently encountered the terminology of manufacturers who may opt for one titanium over the other. Titanium dioxide pigments may need to be coated, and this is one of the coated varieties. It doesn't have its own pigment code, so refer to PW6 in most respects for more information. We found this pigment through Natural Pigments who describe it as, "It is rutile titanium dioxide coated with precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC)." More information can be found here.
Previously thought to be the category of lesser concern, do not breath it
If breathed, Titanium dioxide can be carcinogenic. Treat all pigments and paints with studio safety protocols.
