A deep moody wine violet-red. Rare in oils, but this color is listed as having excellent lightfastness with solid 8's (highest rating) on the Blue Wool Scale. There are at least two red-violet forms of this pigment — a brighter, higher saturation purple and a darker wine colored plum color.
We fell in love with the way this pigment helps to create lower chroma mixtures. In our case it was the darker red-purple which we found to be extremely useful.
Oddly enough this is the same pigment as PBr26: "PV29 and PB26 are the same chemical in different particle size which causes them to appear different colors to the human eye." In her work on safety and artist pigments Monona Rossol has important information on the hazard this poses to artists in dust form, so please consult her writing if you plan to use this color.
