Quinacridone Magenta
Quinacridone Fuchsia
Quinacridone Magenta B
This fascinating Quinacridone has two natures and may be either purple or more pink. There are quite a few Quinacridone pinks, magentas, and purples, and PR202 is its own distinct pigment. Like other Quinacridones (we're looking at you, PV19) this pigment has two distinct natures that fly under the same pigment code. There is a magenta version of PR202 as well as a violet variety.

The more magenta version of PR202 in oil paint
To make this dual nature even more pronounced, Rembrandt makes a PR202 in oil actually seems to have changed from one version to the other over the years. The newer version we've purchased is the more magenta form of PR202.

The magenta form of PR202 by Rembrandt
The purple variety of PR202 has a nice masstone that is not perfectly matched by other purples out of the tube, though it could be mixed. PR202 is incredible in glazes.

The older version of Rembrandt PR202 seems to be the older purpler one
Unfortunately the two varieties are not delineated by the pigment code, so when we went to repurchase the purple-variety PR202 the only tubes for sale contained the more magenta variety.

Excellent, but not officially rated
Bruce MacEvoy’s tests in watercolor show it to be excellent. An old version of the NPIRI from the 80s shows excellent performance even in the outdoor Florida sun exposure tests.
