Graphite. We've found this to be an intense paint. Most artists will probably be encountering graphite through drawing or other activities. Monona Rossol's work highlights lung problems from breathing the dust as well as issues with graphite potentially containing free silica, which could cause a health problem, so we recommend consulting her research for more information. It is fairly rare to find this pigment in oils.
