Annatto Seeds, Bixy orellana is a natural dye that can create a range of oranges and deep browns. In her book on Natural Palettes Sasha Duerr writes, "with its spiky red and orange pods, annatto produces seeds that provide a bright stable orange dye...with iron added it creates beautiful, rich greens." She also notes that some of its other names: achiote or lipstick tree.
